I ask this question in every single coaching session with B2B sales teams:
"How many voicemails have gotten you a callback?"
The answer is typically 2-5. Unless someone feels cheeky and tells me 50 or something.
For the people who are telling the truth and have 2-5 callbacks. Here is what's actually working right now and what can lead to success with voicemails.
COMMI$H’$ 5 $TAR TIP:
Like I said, every training people mention to me that they struggle with call backs from voicemail.
(There's always that one person who says, "I get callbacks every time!" Yeah, OK, brotha. We all know you're lying.)
Voicemails are where good intentions go to die.
You leave a message, they delete it, and you wonder why you even bothered to do the voicemail in the first place.
But what if I told you there's a way to flip the script entirely?
Enter: The Reverse Voicemail
Instead of asking them to call you back (creating friction), you tell them what YOU'RE going to do next (removing friction).
Here's the old way that gets you ghosted like Casper:
"Hi, this is Morgan from AMP Social. We help sales teams book more meetings on LinkedIn and cold calling. Call me back at 555-1234."
Delete. Delete. Delete.
Here's the reverse voicemail that slaps:
"Hi Sally, reason for the voicemail we just worked with [Similar Company] on a 45-day sprint where we built an extra 8 LinkedIn meetings and $2M in pipeline.
Figured since you're in a similar space that targets HR professionals, you might see the same results.
I'm sending you a LinkedIn video in the next 5 minutes. Watch for my name Morgan J Ingram.
No need to call me back, by the way. Morgan J Ingram from AMP. Again, Morgan from AMP."
Ok now let’s break it down:
I am being proactive, not reactive
I am creating anticipation for what's coming
I am making it EASY for them to engage
I am removing the friction of them having to call me back
The psychology is simple my friends:
People hate being asked to do things. But they love knowing what to expect.
Don’t fall into the trap asking for the number.
Start leading the conversation by being a guide.
P.S. Speaking of pointing to a video. We are doing a video prospecting masterclass where I will walk through how to get a 30% response rate with your videos and how other reps have achieved the same.

Here's a quick hack I use to increase email open rates that other reps have been loving for positive reply rates.
The best sales messages are the ones that sound exactly like the buyers you're looking to talk to.
I call this the Sherlock Prospector:
Tag every call with key phrases prospects use
Search across all calls for common language patterns
Build a "buyer dictionary" for each persona
Write outreach using ONLY their words
Real example from my own CRO Dictionary:
"Quality pipeline" (heard this constantly)
"Multi-channel orchestration" (never "omnichannel strategy")
"Pipeline integrity" (not "forecast accuracy")
"Rep accountability" (not "performance management")
Now I take these words to put them into my subject lines, talk track, and value props.
When you use their exact words, you sound like an insider. And when you're an insider, you're not just another rep they ignore.
This is exactly why I use Fathom to capture and search buyer language across hundreds of calls. Their words become my messaging goldmine.
Stop guessing what resonates.
Let your buyers write your emails for you.
THE JOURNEY:
[Note from Stef: Morgan's still jet-lagged from Japan, so I'm jumping in to share some highlights from his trip!]

Buzzing
Getting Ghost of Tsushima vibes from this one
Did you really go on vacation to another country if you don’t take a picture in front of an old (& beautiful) building?
Looking like a GQ Model

I bet that Wagyu was a banger
Morgan will be back next week with his regular programming, but he wanted me to tell you:
Japan is everything you think it is and more. The discipline, the attention to detail, the respect for craft. He is buzzing right now.
